Product Details of 7D-FB Coaxial Cable

The 7D-FB coaxial cable is a specific grade within the "D-FB" series, positioned between the 5D-FB and 8D-FB cables in terms of size and performance.

The 7D-FB coaxial cable is a high-performance, low-loss 50-ohm cable that fills an important niche. Its primary advantages are providing significantly lower signal loss and higher power handling than 5D-FB, while remaining more manageable and flexible than larger 8D-FB cables. It is the ideal choice when you need to upgrade performance from a 5D-FB system but are not ready to commit to the size and rigidity of an 8D-FB solution.

Features

1.Impedance: 50 ohms. Standard for professional radio frequency (RF) applications like cellular and radio communications.
2.Center Conductor: Typically made of bare copper or copper-clad aluminum (CCA), with a diameter larger than 5D-FB (e.g., ~2.50 mm) to reduce resistive losses.
3.Dielectric: Foamed Polyethylene (FPE) with the FB structure. The ~7.0 mm diameter is the key to its improved performance over smaller cables.
4.Shielding: It features high-performance double shielding for excellent noise immunity:
First Layer: An Aluminum-Polyester Tape (APT), providing 100% coverage.
Second Layer: A high-density tinned copper braid.
5.Outer Jacket: Made of UV-resistant Polyethylene (PE) for outdoor durability. The total cable diameter is typically around 10.0 mm.
6.Capacitance: Very low, typically around 80 pF/m
7.Velocity of Propagation: Typically ≥82%

Advantages

1. Lower Signal Loss than 5D-FB:
· This is the primary reason to choose 7D over 5D. The larger cross-sectional area and foamed dielectric result in significantly lower signal attenuation (loss).
· Why it matters: It is ideal for feeder runs that are too long for 5D-FB, providing better signal strength and system efficiency over distance. This can allow for the use of lower-power transmitters or provide better signal coverage.
2. Good Power Handling Capacity:
· The larger center conductor and dielectric allow the 7D-FB cable to handle more RF power than 5D-FB, making it suitable for medium-power transmitters.
3. Excellent Shielding Effectiveness:
· The robust double shielding (foil + braid) ensures minimal signal leakage and superior immunity to external electromagnetic interference (EMI), resulting in a cleaner and more reliable signal.
4. Good Balance of Performance and Flexibility:
· While larger and stiffer than 5D-FB, the 7D-FB is still manageable and flexible enough for many installation scenarios where a rigid 1/2" cable would be difficult to route. It offers a practical compromise.
5. Environmental Durability:
· The PE jacket is designed to withstand harsh weather, moisture, and UV radiation. The FB dielectric's closed-cell structure also resists moisture absorption, which is crucial for maintaining long-term performance in outdoor installations

Applications

The 7D-FB cable is used in professional applications that demand better performance than 5D-FB can provide, without the full cost and rigidity of an 8D-FB or 1/2" cable.

· Macro Cell Base Stations: As a feeder cable for runs where 5D-FB loss is too high.

· In-Building Wireless (IBW) / DAS: For the main trunk lines in very large buildings like airports or stadiums.

· Radio Communication Repeater Sites: For public safety and commercial two-way radio systems.

· Short-to-Medium Distance Feeder Runs: In various RF infrastructure projects.
